Why this course

More than a puzzle, a skill for life

The cube is the clearest demonstration a learner will meet of what an algorithm is: a fixed sequence that always produces the same result, applied by recognising a case. Learning to solve it trains the brain to analyse patterns, plan ahead and make logical decisions, and those habits outlast the puzzle.

It is also hands-on, screen-free and finishable. A few weeks in, a learner can do something specific and visible on demand, and every fresh scramble after that is a small exercise in patience, focus and creative problem-solving.

What we teach

For every age and skill level

Beginners to speedcubers, everyone is welcome, and every learner starts where their solving actually is.

01Young beginnersAges 7–8Play-based learning with colours, patterns and basic moves on the 2×2 and 3×3, keeping small hands busy and confidence high.2×2 and 3×3Colours and patternsBasic moves

The benefits

Why the cube is worth learning

Solving is the visible result. The training underneath is cognitive.

Cognitive agility

Analysing patterns, planning ahead and choosing between options: the same moves analytical thinking is made of.

Laser-sharp focus

The cube demands full attention. Every solve deepens concentration and the ability to stay mentally present.

Memory that holds

Learning and applying algorithms builds retention, recall speed and sequential thinking.

Patience and resilience

Fresh scrambles teach learners to persist, stay calm and treat a failed attempt as part of the solve.

What your child gains

By the end of the course

Solve a 3×3 cube unaided

Read notation and apply algorithms

Solve consistently against a timer

Course structure

How the levels run

Weeks 1–2

Layer one

  • Notation
  • Cross and corners
Weeks 3–4

Layer two

  • Edge insertion
  • Pattern recognition
Weeks 5–6

Layer three

  • Orientation and permutation
  • Timed solves
Focus areas

A whole bag of puzzles

The 3×3 is the beginning. Classes extend across the full puzzle family as each learner is ready.

Bigger cubes

The 4×4 and 5×5, where centres and edges must be built before the familiar method applies.

Shape-shifters

Mirror cubes, gear cubes, the Skewb and the Mastermorphinx, which solve by shape and mechanism as much as by colour.

Pyraminx and Megaminx

The pyramid and the twelve-sided giant, favourites with learners who want variety and quick wins.

How it works

How a cube course runs

Layer by layer, notation first, then speed, then the wider bag.

01

A solve, or a first scramble

The free trial class establishes where the learner is. A beginner starts at notation; a learner who already solves is timed and placed on the speed track.

02

Notation and the first two layers

Turn notation before any solving, because every later instruction depends on it. Then the cross, corners and edge insertion, learned as cases to recognise rather than sequences to recite.

03

The last layer

Orientation and permutation, the point at which most self-taught solvers get stuck.

04

Speed, and new puzzles

Consistent full solves against a timer, finger tricks and look-ahead, then new cubes and shapes as each is earned.

Every programme is taught one to one by a specialist, on the principles set out in our coaching methodology, under an ISO 9001:2015 certified quality system. Parents' own accounts are on our reviews page.

What is included

The Augment advantage

A structured cubing programme, not an assortment of tips.

Certified cube trainers

Internationally certified Rubik’s Cube trainers who teach method and understanding, not memorised move lists.

1:1 and small-batch classes

Live online classes, one-to-one or in small groups, matched to age and level.

Progress tracking and certificates

Solve times and milestones tracked through the course, with a certificate at each stage.

Flexible timings

Weekday and weekend slots across time zones, arranged around school, work and family routine.

What you need at home.A standard 3×3 speed cube, and a 2×2 for the youngest beginners. A stiff puzzle-shop cube makes the later stages genuinely harder; your coordinator can advise before the first class.

“Really amazing experience dealing with thorough professionals. My son learnt rubic cube in no time and even though we sometimes had timing clashes but Jyoti and Sowmya were very accommodating and never rushed any class and always made sure that my son understands each and every step thoroughly. My son is very confident and I wish the team all the best as will definitely try some more courses.”

“Deep Sir taught my 6-year-old to solve a 3x3 Rubik's Cube in just 6 sessions! His patience, enthusiasm, and expertise made learning fun and accessible. Confidence booster! He fostered a love for problem-solving and critical thinking in my child.Highly recommend!”

“My daughter's maths has improved alot and her calculations has become very fast and accurate, Thanks to Padma mam. My daughter is learning chess and Rubik's, I would say she is a slow learner but the teachers put great effort to make their subjects interesting. She is really enjoying studying with her teacher and never say to miss the class. Jyoti mam is always there related to any reschedule or any issues. She keeps tracks of classes and students progress which makes parents also engaged. I would highly recommend Abacus, Rubik's and chess course from them. They have great teachers and all work as team to reach the ultimate goal.”

Parents ask

Before you enrol

What age can a child solve a cube?
Seven upwards. The limiting factors are hand size and the patience to drill a case, not intelligence. The youngest learners start play-based on the 2×2.
My child can already solve it. Is there anything here?
Yes, the speed track: finger tricks, look-ahead, CFOP or Roux, and faster last-layer methods. Tell the advisor the current solve time so the class starts in the right place.
Am I too old to learn?
No. Teens and adults join for advanced methods, speedcubing and blindfolded solving, and adult learners often progress fastest because the patience is already there.
Is six weeks realistic for a full solve?
For most beginners who practise between classes, yes. Learners who do not practise take longer, and the course repeats a stage rather than moving on.
Do you teach 4×4 and other puzzles?
Yes. Once the 3×3 is secure, classes extend to the 4×4 and 5×5, Pyraminx, Megaminx, Skewb, mirror and gear cubes, and more.
Does this help with maths?
It builds spatial reasoning and sequence memory. It is not a maths course and is not sold as one.
